My Charts | 4

As every summer entails, I have found some new music to have a little dance around my room to and here I am to share it with you. Currently partaking in this activity as you read (more than likely).
First up we have Jess Glynne's album, I Cry When I Laugh
I've had the date for this release on my calendar for quite some time and yes Jess, you have indeed delivered. Do approve rather highly. She's already had 6 number one's from this album before it was even released so I could only see it going up from here. It's hard to pick some songs out but if I have to then I do recommend No Rights No Wrongs and You Can Find Me. For me, a good album need to immediately capture my attention and be generally uplifting. You want that too? Well here you go. My gift to you.

Gorgon City - Saving My Life (feat. ROMAN)
Finally some new music from these guys. Released on their Vevo channel on Monday I've had this playing in the car, in my room, in the kitchen, anywhere I'm tolerated really. If you know any of Gorgon City's music at all then you'll recognise the baselines they've got going on in this one. Once again, will be jamming' to this around the house.

The Maine - American Candy
I was introduced to these guys last year and yea, they're great. I've not heard a band like them before. The first song I heard of theirs was English Girls so I definitely think you should all give this one a go. They have 2 videos for this song and I think both just show off their fun personalities. Also I'm super excited to be seeing them as a support act for Mayday Parade in January!
Here and here are the videos.

Hobbie Stuart - How You Love It
He's a fast growing YouTuber on the path of pursuing his musical career. I hadn't heard any of his work until recently. I was watching a video of Gabby's (velvetghost) and she featured a few of his songs and it was this one that stood out for me. Although it's not a song you can buy on iTunes, I think a cheeky youtube convert is well in order.

Years & Years - Shine (Jax Jones Remix)
If you know me at all then you'll know I have a very big love for these guys. I've followed and listened to them for a couple years now so the success that they're having is really exciting to hear. I have still yet to see them in physicality but my time will come. A friend linked this remix and I was a bit apprehensive at first as the original song is gold in my ears but I think this remix does it justice. Jax Jones gets one G point from me.

I hope you've found my choices for this chart interesting and let me know if you like any of them too.

My Charts | 3

I'm always looking to find new music and artists and I've definitely done that this past month. I thought I'd share with you all to perhaps introduce you to someone you've never heard of, or make you aware of what's out there. I'm no expert, but these are 5 songs that are doing the job for me lately.

1) Desire - Years & Years

I was introduced to Years & Years by my brother. He recently went to see Clean Bandit and these guys were the support act. After hearing this song of theirs I was instantly hooked. Plus their album artwork for Desire is amazing if you ask me. They've recently released a video for this song too (linked in red above).

2) Chasing Time - Azalea Banks

I think I am right in believing that this was a much anticipated album with Azealia's release of '212' about 2 years ago. The album 'Broke with Expensive Taste'  was released just 2 days ago and Chasing Time just stood out for me. It may not be everyones cup of tea but I'm all over it.

3) Take Shelter - Years & Years

Yes it's these guys again but all of the songs they've released so far I really like so I thought I'd throw a second one in here. Their lead singer is Olly Alexander who was in the most recent series of Skins. Little fact for you there. Once again, alum artwork appreciation please.

4) Real Love - Clean Bandit

I've lost count of how many times I've mentioned these guys on here but they continue to impress. A new song from them featuring Jess Glynne. They are re-releasing their album New Eyes with some extra, new songs and a second side with an orchestra collaboration which is perfectly fitting considering they are all about that sound with the violin and cello.

5) Medicine - The 1975

The movie 'Drive' featuring Ryan Gosling was re-scored and this new song of The 1975 featured in the soundtrack. It is safe to say I have a very strong love for these guys (especially Matty) and whilst this song is very mellow it still represents their well known sound. So good one guys, you have my approval.

So there we have it, my top 5 songs at the moment. Have any of you heard of Years and Years before because I'm obsessed? If not are you liking any of the same songs as me?
Thanks for reading.

My Charts | 2

I don't have a lot of music to share with you this week but I've been really enjoying a couple of things and thought I'd share.

Brother and Bones - Kerosene

A uni friend introduced these to me and man am I glad she did. I went to see them whilst at uni for a small intimate gig and it was incredible. Right at the front and spoke to them all after the show. This is their newest song and video and they haven't disappointed me. Their sound is a mix of rock, folk, indie I'd say. I just love them and their debut album comes out some time in 2015. Such a long wait but i'm super excited.

MØ - No Mythologies to Follow

MØ is a Denmark singer who I recently discovered. Her song 'Walk This Way' is on the latest Boohoo advert which is how I found out about here. I was surprised to hear a song of hers whilst shopping in H&M the other day too. I'd recommend listening to Walk This Way, The Sea and Fire Rides. Some of my favourites. She has an electronic, indie pop vibe. Her voice isn't like anything I've heard before. It's not the type of music I'd normally listen to but I've been really enjoying it lately.

I've pre written and scheduled this post as in my new house we don't have internet for a bout a week and I wanted to keep the blog active.
Links are in red as usual.
Thanks for reading.

My Charts

Greetings!
In one week it'll be August! What?! Already? That means my blogging everyday in July is nearly up. I'm really enjoying doing it everyday. It's kind of become just part of my daily routine and fits in really nicely so I'm probably going to carry on with the daily posts. It'll just feel weird if i'm not doing this every day now. Side note finished, on with the post.
It's all about music again today. My second music post in about 6 months. I'm going to share 5 songs I'm really into at the moment. Must warm you though that it's quite a mish mash genre wise, but my iTunes library varies from, Frank Ocean to The Pretty Reckless to Jay-Z.
I think a collab. of these 3 wouldn't be something in the pipe lines I think you'll agree.

1) Alt-J - Tesselate
I had heard the name Alt-J a lot and never took an interest because from the name it sounds like yet another boy band. I couldn't have been further from the truth if I tried. Their music is to me, relaxing and something to listen to whilst lying in the sun just chilling out. Tesselate is definitely my favourite from their album An Awesome Wave. I really like the way his voice sounds in it. I don't know band member names so excuse me on that one. This song just sends me into a calm, happy state and I really love it. Do recommend.

MNEK has a distinctive voice I think. All of the songs he's released or featured in have all been so good. I love singing along to his music and this song is no different. Has a great beat and bass line to it which just completes the package and seals the deal.

3) Gorgon City - Unmissable
A new release from Gorgon City. The bass lines on their songs are so different from what I've heard before. Very recognisable as being theirs. I feel this song has a summer vibe to so it'll probably be on repeat a lot for me. Just like MNEK (who has featured in a song of theirs) I've loved every song they've released. There's just something different and refreshing about their music.

4) Jack and Dean - Consent
Jack and Dean are a youtube comedy duo and they released this song which does have a serious point but is put across in a fun way. It's about the fact that it's okay to say no to the guy or change your mind if you want to. I quote 'only with your consent'. You should definitely go check it out if you haven't already. The chorus is very catchy and the video is funny. A memorable song.

5) Clean Bandit - Come Over
Clean Bandit released their album a while ago now but this is a new video for them coming out just a few days ago. They are always so creative when it comes to their videos and they film them all themselves. Some of it was filmed in Marrakech and has some gorgeous imagery in this video. But the song is so good as well. It's my favourite off their New Eyes album. I've been listening to these guys for about 3 or 4 years now so i'm always excited when they release new content. An uplifting, fun song.

Hope you like my choices for this post. It's what i'm listening to a lot at the moment. As ever, links are in red. Thanks for reading and let me know if you like any of these songs or if you recommend any others.

Helps Your Two Hips Move

Greetings!
Bit of writers block as to how the heck to start this post. You know when you just lose all knowledge as to how to type. Yea I've got a bit of that going on. I actually read on tumblr that typing speeds up your breathing so technically you are doing a bit of cardio whilst typing a post. A win win situation i think you might agree. Anyways, onto what this post is about. Music! Remixes in particular. I think that when some people see the word remix they think club music being sped up to about 60 times the normal rate and nearly passing out from dancing/ singing the first verse. Now there's your cardio.
Well the remixes I want to talk about are the complete opposite of this. I recently found the youtube channel Majestic Casual. They have over 1.8 million subscribers so you may already know them. The remixes on their channel are very chilled out with mellow bass lines that don't break your ear drums. I will admit I am partial to a bit of club, house music in the right circumstances but having a balance of that something calmer and relaxing is nice to have. Some of the remixes they have a kind of The xx feel to them so if thats your thing go ahead and take a listen.
Some that I particularly like are
1. Settle Down (The 1975) - Young Ruffian Remix
2. Say My Name (Destiny's Child) - Cyril Hahn Remix
3. You Da One (Rihanna) - J.u.D Remix
4. Dreams (Fleetwood Mac) - Gigamesh Edit
5. Me & U (Cassie) - Vilage Bootleg Remix

Some of the voices are different on these particular remixes (slow down/ changed gender somehow) which I think can make a nice change to perhaps a song you like but are maybe getting bored of because lets be honest it always happen to some songs.
Their channel has nearly 900 videos so I'm sure that there will be at least one remix you'll like there. I sound like I'm trying to promote them or something. That's not the case, I simply found their channel after it was recommended to me and wanted to share my findings with you.
I hope you enjoy their channel and this post. I realised that after blogging for a good few months now I hadn't talked about music at any point so today was as good a day as any. Maybe I'll share some more music posts with you in the future.
Thanks for reading.
