Everything

Yes, it's been a while since I last blogged. I'll hold my hands up and admit it but hey ho, I do have a post today. It's a miracle! The first 2015 post is of course an outfit. An all black one at that. I'm very partial to my black and white monochrome colour scheme but it's very rare I actually wear a full black outfit. Today is that day. Wearing a couple of new purchases as well. I hope you like it. Leave comments if you so desire.

Top - Boohoo | Jeans - Boohoo | Cardigan - New Look | Scarf - New Look | Bag - Next | Phone case - Primark

I'd been on the look out for a long cardigan for a good while now and some high waisted black jeans too and I finally got my hands on both of them. I love the effect of an all black outfit. It's such a simple way pull off a put together, stylish outfit.

A Smockery

I've always loved the look of smock dresses but never thought they suited me or felt comfortable but my style is changing all the time and I thought I'd give the smock dress scene a go. It just so happens that I have myself a little collection building up. I love the oversized, but still put together look they achieve. Thrown on with a duster coat and pair of boots you've got yourself and everyday look in minutes.

The most oversized of the three is from Asos. It's a linen type material so definitely a summer piece.

Second one is from H&M (can't find online, but is in store) and reminds of an American Apparel dress that is similar so was a steal of a dupe for it. And this one is probably my favourite.

The last one is from MissGuided and I bought for halloween specifically. It has an under cami dress with a chiffon overlay. I love the colour of this one. It was between this one and a black one. I went for the oxblood simply because I don't need anymore black clothes.
So there are some of my smock dresses. Do any of you love smock dresses too?

Essential Flats

I've only been away from the blog for a couple days but it feels like forever ago that I posted. I hope you have been liking my outfit posts though. Today is all about shoes, flat ones. I love a good pair of heels, they can look so flattering for a woman, but being about 5ft10 in height means that any extra height gives me the appropriate name of the Big Friendly Giant. Cheers Primary School, that one stuck. So I'm going to show you 4 pairs of flats, that are versatile in everyday life and can be switched up for the evening.

The Ballet Shoe

We all need them. You more than likely already own a pair. They can be found super cheap at somewhere like Primark. I got mine from H&M for £9.99. Perhaps a bit expensive for a shoe like this but they will have their fair share of wearing. Easy to throw on with pretty much anything and if you're like me and really can't take the pain of heels on a night out, here's the answer.

Trainers/ Sneakers

Again, you probably already own a pair of the classic Converse. They are so easy to wear, comfy and look good. They come in a range of colours/ patterns so very versatile depending on what you like. I also have a burgundy pair but these are my most worn. You could switch these out for a pair of actually trainers that may be more supportive like the Nike Free 5.0 Shield ID's.

Brogue Style

These are my Doc Marten 1461's. Sturdy, go with loads of things and look the part. Obviously there are lots of different styles of brogues you can buy, some that are perhaps not as chunky as these. They really help smarten up an outfit. Whether you want to go down the smart, casual, smart route, or team them with a work outfit. I never used to be a fan of brogues but now I love them. Especially the patent ones. They just add that extra little bit of interest.

Boots

Finally is a recent purchase of mine. I'd been on the look for a pair of boots like these for quite some time. I featured them in my last post here. They work well with rolled up skinny jeans, shorts, skirts, day dresses, lots of things. These'd be great for a casual evening drinks with skinny black high waist trousers, and bright crop top. The tiny heel gives them more proportion I think and the two wraps around them with the buckles isn't too much but enough to make them more interesting.
All of these shoes are super interchangeable with outfits. I wear them all lots (not at the same time though) and they each add something slightly different to the outfit.
After doing this post I realise that pretty much all my shoes are black. Side not- be more adventurous with shoe choices.

Tone it Down

The dark colours of todays outfit all pull together really well, although I wasn't expecting the weather to be so warm today so the outfit didn't work in my favour there but I bared with.  It was the kind of outfit where I just threw on what I could find but it still managed to actually look decent. Achievement? I think so.

The top was in fact a long top which I cut into a cropped one. I always end up doing this but thats just the style I tend to roll with. These jeans are great too. Not quite jean material so a bit more stretchy. Easier to move around in. I hate it when you can barely sit down in a pair of jeans without some serious effort. But these ones are comfy, stretchy and easy to wear with lots of things.
I just picked up these little boots. I've been looking for a pair like this for ages, turns out they were just round the corner at my local Tesco store.

Top - H&M
Jeans - River Island
Belt - New Look ( With a pair of shorts)
Boots - Tesco
